The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) are promoting 765 uniformed personnel from MINDEF Headquarters, Army, Navy, Air Force and Digital and Intelligence Service this year. These personnel include Regulars and Operationally Ready National Servicemen.
At the promotion ceremonies held at MINDEF today, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen presented certificates to personnel promoting to the ranks of Vice Admiral (VADM), Major-General (MG), Brigadier-General (BG), Rear Admiral (RADM) (One-Star), Colonel (COL), Military Expert 7 (ME7), Management Executive (MX) 7 and Defence Executive (DX) 16 grades under the Civilian/Defence Executive Officer (DXO) scheme, Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) and Senior Warrant Officer (SWO). Chief of Defence Force (CDF) RADM Aaron Beng also presented certificates to personnel promoting to the ranks of Senior Lieutenant Colonel (SLTC), Lieutenant Colonel (LTC), Military Expert 6 (ME6) and Master Warrant Officer (MWO). Also present were spouses and guests of the promoting personnel, as well as senior MINDEF officials and SAF officers.
The promotees for this year include CDF RADM Aaron Beng who will be promoting to the rank of VADM, and Chief of Digital and Intelligence Service/Director Military Intelligence BG Lee Yi-Jin to the rank of MG. In addition, six COL will be promoted to the ranks of BG and RADM (One-Star). Among the list of warrant officers promoting this year, three SWOs will be promoted to the pinnacle rank of CWO.
A promotion ceremony for 431 DXOs and civilians was also held yesterday for MINDEF/SAF’s non-uniformed personnel.
The annual promotion exercise is part of ongoing efforts to recognise, reward and develop officers, military experts, warrant officers, DXOs and civilians who have performed well and demonstrated potential to contribute further to MINDEF/SAF. All promotions will take effect from 1 July 2023.
