Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore
The Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Air Marshal (AM) Robert Chipman called on Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Defence Mr Zaqy Mohamad at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. During their meeting, SMS Zaqy reaffirmed the strong bilateral defence relationship between Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the RAAF, and exchanged views on recent geopolitical developments.
AM Chipman, who is in Singapore from 29 to 31 August 2023 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng and Chief of Air Force Major-General Kelvin Khong after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. As part of his visit, AM Chipman visited Sembawang Air Base this afternoon and viewed a static display of the H225M helicopter.
AM Chipman’s visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Australia. The RSAF and RAAF interact regularly through bilateral and multilateral training exercises such as Exercise Churinga and Exercise Pitch Black, professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses. These mutually beneficial interactions have enhanced the interoperability between both air forces and deepened the rapport between their personnel.
